Match report

Today’s game was league fixture against Oakley, a very competent side who have evolved in terms of development at a similar pace. We have played them on numerous occasions, our last one, losing but if I’m being honest the boys didn’t do themselves justice and performance was not to usual standard.
Started the game well today, the boys looked confident on the ball from the back to front and pleasingly were pulling Oakley out of position and creating opportunities. Particular pleasing was how confident we were in possession of the ball though; it was only a matter of time before a goal would come. Tomas had two great solo efforts from distance that didn’t quite dip enough but again play was good, chances created. The goal came after 14 minutes lovely pass down the line from Yannis to Tomas, who cut inside before slotting past the keeper. Jari tapped home, as although on target their defender would have cleared, 1-0 Tigers. At this point we made some substitutions, to freshen us up and again pleasingly the football played continued to be of a good standard, some nice link play between Tyler and Samuel. At the back, Harris again was confident/commanding his area, Josh, Jeremy and Yannis composed/confidently cutting out their attacking threat.
Half –Time 1-0
Told the boys, could not fault their performance really, and if being critical just told them we perhaps deserved another goal at least for general play/goal scoring chances created. Told them to keep playing the way they were and chances would continue to come.
Sent Denzel back on, for Tyler but otherwise kept team the same. Again started the half well , Denzel knocking in a couple of telling crosses and Samuel /James having half chances to score in the area .While it remained 1-0 they still had something to go for. Our second come after about 10 minutes, a good run and shot from Jeremy was blocked by an Oakley player’s hand, free kick awarded. Up stepped Yannis, all I can say is great free kick! From a good twenty yards out he found the net. I would disclose more but don’t want to give our training ground tactics away to any opposing managers reading this!!
Oh and Denzel, it didn’t flick off your hair, worth the try though.
2-0 Tigers!
At 2-0, thinking safe but within five minutes Oakley pulled one back, a ball across wasn’t properly dealt with and their striker stroke the ball Harris.
Chances continued to come for Denzel, Tomas but good goalkeeping kept the score 2-1.
Our third goal comes thanks to Tyler and Tomas. The ball was knocked to Tyler, diagonally left of the area. He shot and the keeper saved well, but the rebound fell to Tyler who volleyed and hit the left upright. This rebounded ou to Tomas, who tucked home, 3-1 Tigers.
Great performance today boys, and thoroughly deserved win. As I /Des have always said, when you are on your game and play to your ability your are an extremely competent football team who would give any team a good challenge. Should all be very proud of this performance, individually and as a team- well done boys!!
Star-Player; Yannis
Great performance today, Yannis! Today and also against Bronham you have showed a level of football that you can attain too. You were composed on the ball, decision making when in possession of the ball was good, i.e. when to release, type of pass to give to your teammate etc. Performance was capped by well taken goal, well-done. Use this performance as your standard now.
To all boys, the same applies, play the game this way and with type of performance and you will win more games than you lose, but you must also use this standard for progression as a team .Well-done!
A big thank you to all supporters/ parents again and a thank you to Dennis (secretary) who came and watched , much appreciated .
